I’m a big fan of Japanese culture.

Whilst I may not own a waifu pillow (Google it), I partake in many activities that are more culturally accepted in the Japanese realm. I’m a gamer, a huge fan of Dragon Ball Z/Pokémon and I also partake in street races that involve me strategically drifting my car down mountains.

Also, I love Japanese food.

I’m a food porn producer; some might even go as far as to call me a food porn star. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy some food porn from other food porn stars on off days. Sometimes, when I haven’t been out to eat in a while; I’ll live vicariously through the foodgasms of some other folks in the food blogosphere.

One of my favourite food bloggers is Nicole Fung of That Food Cray and Basta Pasta earned her stamp of approval (it was a guest post but still).

That’s how I wound up there.

I went for lunch after a spot of morning shopping. If H&M were a charity then I’d be a philanthropist on the level of Bill & Melinda Gates.

I was absolutely fiending for some pasta and was confronted with a plethora of choices.

In the mean time, let’s take a look at the one and only salad I had during my trip:

The salad as a whole had a nice hit of tang and pepper throughout. I love rocket and I love whenever it pops up in any dish. All the greens were nice and fresh and were definitely needed after consuming nothing but carbs and fried stuff throughout the trip (no regrets!)

Now, time to channel my inner Justin Timberlake and get my suit & tie going (minus the suit).

I opted for the bow tie pasta because I always end up with Mom’s spaghetti all over my sweater (that one was for my Reddit homies). Also, the mix of ingredients just sounded incredible. Generally, I’m a fan of cream based pasta sauces over tomatoes and this dish just reaffirmed my spot on Team Cream.

I loved how the salmon just flaked away upon even the gentlest of prods. I’ve never had tarragon grain mustard before and was impressed with how well it held the dish together. It’s definitely a winning combination right up there with the comedic geniuses and hair stylists behind Donald Trump’s toupee.

So good.

I was basking on that delightful line between almost full and about to slip into a food coma when my dessert arrives.

Ah well, guess my evening plans can be postponed to another day:

On first glance, I thought it’d be a very light way to end dinner.

Nope.

It’s actually a tad heavier than it appears to be (its ok, I like it when they have some meat on their bones). It’s also as tasty if not more so than it appears to be. The puree isn’t overly sweet and goes well with the subtle white chocolate flavour of the mousse.

Here’s the TL; DR for everyone who called me a moose in high school

– Overall, a great multi-course lunch for under $20. That’s hard to beat that in New York.

– I am not Ron Jeremy.

– He’s nervous but on the surface he looks calm and ready to drop bombs but he keeps on forgetting what he wrote down – Cut the mic.
